Skin Resurfacing in Phoenix

Laser Skin Resurfacing ScottsdaleDo you have wrinkles, scars or other imperfections on your skin? Reattaining smoother skin with an even tone may be easier than you imagined. Laser skin resurfacing is a cosmetic treatment that uses concentrated beams of light to vaporize precise areas of skin. This allows healthier, firmer skin to regenerate in the place of the damaged skin.

Dr. Ali Ghafouri is Arizona’s premier ophthalmic facial and reconstructive plastic surgeon. He delegates laser resurfacing treatments to his medical aestheticians whom frequently perform these non-surgical skin resurfacing procedures to rejuvenate our patients’ skin.

What Can Skin Resurfacing Correct?

Laser treatments are effective at improving several cosmetic issues, which include:

  • Mild to moderate lines and wrinkles
  • Scars, including acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Birthmarks
  • Age/sunspots
  • Enlarged pores

Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Options

Dr. Ghafouri offers two amazing resurfacing treatments, ResurFX™ and TotalFX™, each with its own strengths. During your initial consultation, our team analyzes your skin, listens to your goals and can help recommend a treatment that works best for you.

ResurFX™

ResurFX is the only technology available that has been clinically proven to improve fine lines, skin laxity, hyperpigmentation and scars with a fractional laser. A fractional laser is non-ablative, which means that the laser heat can enter the dermis without damaging the tissue surrounding the targeted area. This allows for a much faster recovery period, while still being strong enough to amplify production of collagen and elastin.

At Arizona Oculoplastic Specialists, you can choose to combine ResurFX with IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy for comprehensive, optimal results. This blend of treatments is called photofractional laser resurfacing.

TotalFX™

Skin Resurfacing ScottsdaleTotalFX is a laser treatment that uses two types of UltraPulse® CO2 lasers for deeper resurfacing and maximum results. The strength of these lasers makes them capable of improving even deep wrinkles and scars, which is why some in the industry refer to it as a non-surgical facelift. The trade-off for choosing this more transformative resurfacing treatment is that it is more uncomfortable (though not painful) than the non-ablative treatment, and it usually requires a week of downtime to recover.

Skin Resurfacing Recovery and Results

With a CO2 laser, it can take a week or two for skin to peel and new skin to regenerate depending on the depth and areas treated such as non-facial skin like neck and chest. You can expect redness, which resembles a sunburn. Full results can take months to manifest as the new production of collagen and elastin gradually improves the texture of the skin. While the longevity of your results depends on factors such as the type of laser used, your skin type and lifestyle; most patients see the benefits of this treatment last between two and five years.

Laser Resurfacing Costs

The price of skin resurfacing depends on the amount of skin treated, the type of laser used to perform this procedure and the number of treatments required to achieve your preferred results. During a consultation, Arizona Oculoplastic Specialists can provide a complete quote. Although resurfacing is not covered by insurance, financing options are available through CareCredit.
