What is Cheek Augmentation with Filler?
Hollow cheeks and undefined cheekbones are common concerns for many people, especially as they get older. As the skin naturally ages, collagen production slows, and existing collagen fibers break down. Collagen is a protein that gives the skin elasticity and volume. As collagen levels decrease, the skin begins to sag and wrinkle, creating an aged appearance. Cheek filler improves age-related volume loss and redefines the contours of the face to restore a more youthful appearance with natural-looking results. It’s a great alternative to surgical procedures like fat grafting or cheek implants, especially for patients who are just starting to notice signs of aging.
Non-surgical cheek augmentation can be accomplished with a variety of dermal fillers that plump the skin and fill in deep facial folds. Some of the best cheek fillers include Juvéderm Voluma XC, Restylane Lyft, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Juvéderm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid fillers that add volume and give your skin a healthy, glowing complexion. The Cheek Augmentation Procedure
Cheek filler injections are virtually painless and the entire procedure only takes 30 minutes. At the start of your treatment, a topical numbing cream can be applied to maximize your comfort. Once your face is cleansed and prepped, a fine needle will be used to inject the dermal filler into various spots in the cheek area. These injections will be carefully placed to ensure a smooth, balanced contour.
Cheek Augmentation Recovery
There is minimal recovery after cheek augmentation with filler. Mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness to the touch are common but will improve within a few days. Until the swelling has subsided, we recommend patients avoid strenuous activity and sun exposure. Anti-inflammatory medications and cold compresses can also be used to minimize swelling. Results from hyaluronic acid fillers will develop in about one week while collagen-stimulating injectables will create gradual improvements as new collagen fibers develop and lift the skin.
