What is Kybella?
Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for fat reduction. It is primarily used to treat submental fat beneath the chin, more commonly known as a double chin. Kybella is made with deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally found in the body;
more specifically, it’s a bile acid that can break down and absorb dietary fat. Deoxycholic acid destroys fat cells and prevents their ability to store fat. Unwanted fat will be gradually flushed from the chin to smooth the contours of your jawline and chin.

Kybella is a great alternative to neck liposuction for men and women who are not surgical candidates or do not wish to undergo surgery. The Kybella Procedure
Kybella treatments only take 30 minutes or less and are performed in our comfortable office space. Most patients do not find this treatment to be painful but a topical numbing cream can be requested to keep you comfortable. Kybella injections will be administered with a fat needle into various areas under the chin to make all excess fat cells are treated for a smooth, even result.
Kybella Recovery
There is minimal downtime and recovery after Kybella treatments but wild swelling, redness, and bruising can occur. To minimize swelling, avoid sun exposure and strenuous activity for a few days. Results will develop gradually and patients with severe submental fat may need up to six treatments. Dr. Ghafouri will monitor the progression of your results to determine whether additional treatments are needed. Once the unwanted fat cells are destroyed, they cannot return to the results are permanent. However, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to prevent fat accumulation in other areas.
