Brow & Forehead Lift in Phoenix
Also Serving Patients in Scottsdale
As our skin loses elasticity and becomes susceptible to the pull of gravity, the brow line falls. The result? Deep forehead wrinkles and lines around the eye area that make us look worn out, upset and even angry — the opposite of how you want the world to see you!
The good news is that brow lift surgery can lift the brow line to a more youthful position while at the same time smoothing out forehead wrinkles, and even deep creases, making you look several years younger in the process.
Dr. Ghafouri, an established oculoplastic surgeon specializing in eyelid surgery, can surgically modify underlying facial musculature and tissue to create a look that is natural — for both men and women, who have different brow lines. To learn more about brow lift surgery and find out if you are a good candidate, schedule a private consultation with Dr. Ghafouri by calling Arizona Oculoplastic Specialists today!

Brow Lift Procedure Details
There are different techniques for brow and forehead lifting depending on the patient’s needs, age, gender and facial anatomy. The main difference among various surgical options for brow/ forehead lifting consists of placement of incisions, the amount and the region of the lift that is needed the most. Often the brow/forehead lift is combined with blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) to give a more lasting and natural appearance.
Coronal Forehead Lift:
This is the traditional technique in which a long incision is made behind the hairline within the scalp. A large section of the skin is excised from the scalp and then the forehead is dissected from its attachments to the bone. It is pulled back and then the skin incision is closed. Significant amount of lifting can be achieved with this approach. The main disadvantage of this procedure is that the frontal hairline is shifted further back, and the possibility of permanent scalp numbness. Another option is to place the incision within the mid- forehead creases. This is primarily used in naturally deep preexisting forehead lines.
Endoscopic Forehead Lift:
This is the newest type of forehead-lift surgery. In this approach, four 1-2 inch incisions are made parallel and behind the hairline. The surgeon inserts an endoscope through the small incisions to visualize the structures underneath the skin. The endoscope is mounted on the camera and then it is viewed on a TV screen. The muscles that caused frowning are selectively removed, and the whole forehead is pulled back. Sometimes, two small dissolvable screws are placed into the skull bone to temporarily support the forehead until it heals to its new location. This procedure could be performed under IV sedation or twilight anesthesia. This approach is less invasive than the coronal lift, there is much less chance of a visible scar or numbness.
Direct Brow Lift:
In this approach only the eyebrow is lifted and not the forehead. The incision is hidden within the brow hairline. This approach is used mostly in men with bushy and heavy eyebrows.
Browpexy:
This procedure is always combined with blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). In this approach the sutures are placed through a blepharoplasty incision, anchoring the brow tissue to forehead area at a higher position. This approach only results in limited elevation of the eyebrows.
Recovering from Surgery
For the first few days after brow/forehead lift surgery in Scottsdale, you will experience a mild to moderate amount of bruising and swelling on the upper portion of your face. To help alleviate swelling, use cold compresses on the area and sleep with your upper body elevated. Dr. Ghafouri will provide you with pain medication to help with any discomfort (usually mild) that you may experience during this time. He will also provide you with a list of post-operative instructions to follow, to ensure that your recovery is as complete and comfortable as possible. Most of Dr. Ghafouri’s brow lift patients are able to return to work one week after surgery, though they should refrain from strenuous and/or weight-bearing exercise for 2-3 weeks.
