Facial Injectables in Scottsdale

Also Serving Patients in Phoenix

Non-Invasive Anti-Wrinkle Skin Injectables Scottsdale, AZGetting older can cause some areas of your face to age before others. Injectables offer a way to counteract signs of aging and help you maintain a youthful appearance without invasive plastic surgery. Our board-certified oculoplastic surgeon offers various injectables, such as Botox and dermal fillers, to customize your treatment at our Scottsdale office.

Botox

Botox is an FDA-approved injectable substance used to treat the lines and wrinkles produced by facial expressions. Botox injections temporarily paralyze the targeted facial muscles that cause wrinkles to form. The treatment is primarily used to treat fine lines around the eyes (“crow’s feet”), furrows between the eyebrows (“11 lines”), creases on the forehead and neck bands. The discomfort is minimal as we use the finest needles. Typically, the results last four to six months.

Botox is in a class of injectables called neuromodulators that target the reason behind certain wrinkles. Botox and similar products, such as Dysport, address dynamic wrinkles that form due to years of muscle movements, including squinting, frowning and scowling. Neuromodulators smoothen wrinkles at their source and are also used for various medical conditions such as blepharospasms (eyelid twitching) and amblyopia (lazy eye).

Candidates for Botox should have moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles and neck banding and be at least 18 years old. During your consultation, Dr. Ali Ghafouri and our skincare providers will determine if Botox is the right injectable or cosmetic treatment for your cosmetic needs.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are an increasingly popular non-surgical alternative to surgery, and they help diminish the hollowed look and wrinkles that can occur due to aging and volume loss. When performed by an experienced doctor, dermal fillers give a natural three-dimensional lift.

Specifically, these injectables can also correct circles under the eye, lines around the lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowls. We offer a variety of dermal fillers tailored to the individual aesthetic needs of each patient. The dermal fillers offered at our center are all FDA approved, safe and effective.

A topical gel is used to numb the area before the injection. The results are immediately visible. Depending on the dermal filler used, the results can last anywhere from six months to two years. Our experience and expertise in facial procedures will ensure a safe treatment with the most natural-looking results.

Many dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar compound found in your tissues. Hyaluronic acid diminishes as you get older, causing skin changes such as volume loss, static wrinkles, and thinning skin with a crepe-like texture. Hyaluronic-acid-based fillers restore a youthful complexion by filling in depressed areas of the skin for a supple appearance. Juvederm and Restylane dermal filler families use hyaluronic acid to reduce signs of aging.

Other dermal fillers, such as Radiesse, may be made with calcium hydroxylapatite, a natural, mineral-like substance that can enhance facial contours and minimize age-related creases. Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra) and polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (Bellafill) are used in certain dermal fillers for semi-permanent results.

Candidates for dermal fillers should be in good overall health, non-smokers, have a positive outlook for their results and show a commitment to good skin care and health.

What is Kybella?

Facial Cosmetic Surgeon Scottsdale, AZKybella is made of deoxycholic acid. It is a naturally produced substance in bile that helps digest fat in the intestine. When directly injected into the fat under the chin, the fat cells are permanently destroyed and absorbed by the body. Kybella is a one-of-a-kind injectable that reduces the dreaded “double chin” to reveal a more youthful facial profile. The injections take about 20 minutes to perform. Usually, two to three treatment sessions are needed to achieve optimal results. Some swelling and redness are expected for several days after the treatment.

Many men and women struggle with submental fullness, which may accumulate due to genetics, natural aging or weight gain. Previously, the only ways to eliminate a double chin were liposuction or surgery, but Kybella offers a non-surgical treatment option. This unique injectable may be right for you if you have excess fat under your chin with good skin quality.

Botox, Dermal Fillers or Both?

The right injectable for your aesthetic concerns depends on the facial area(s) you’d like to improve and the cause of your lines and wrinkles. Botox is often a better fit for wrinkles around the corners of the eyes, forehead and between the brows, whereas dermal fillers may be better for the mid-face and tear troughs. Sometimes, a combination of Botox and dermal fillers can provide your desired results. This “liquid facelift” can improve multiple areas of concern and may improve facial contours in the cheeks and chin.
