Wrinkles across the forehead and between eyebrows can leave your face looking worn out, sad, or even give an angry appearance. As the forehead and eyebrows droop, it causes heaviness in the upper eyelid area making your eyes look smaller. In fact, many clients who seek upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) actually have brow or forehead droop (brow ptosis). If you have been frustrated by past attempts to correct deep wrinkles and drooping eyebrows and want a more permanent solution, a brow or forehead lift may be the right choice.
Can an Eyebrow or Forehead Lift Really Help Reduce That Aging Look?
Eyebrow and forehead lifts are specialized surgeries that have the potential to deliver results that are longer lasting and more visible than other, less direct, forms of treatments such as creams, serums, lasers and injections.
What Kind of Procedures Are Available?
Here at Arizona Oculoplastic Specialists, we offer many approaches to help our valued clients achieve their outcomes:
- Coronal Forehead Lift: In this procedure, the surgeon makes a long incision just behind the patient’s hairline. A portion of skin is lifted from the scalp and removed, then the forehead skin is shifted into its new position before being stitched closed.
- Endoscopic Brow Lift: An alternative to the coronal approach, this approach starts with four small incisions behind the hairline. A tiny endoscopic camera is inserted through the incisions to assist with the rest of the surgery. Muscles responsible for creating the deep frown lines are selectively removed and the skin is pulled back. this is our favorite procedure.
- Lateral/Temporal Brow Lift: This procedure is performed with local anesthesia. The incision are made in the temporal hairline and hidden. Only the outer portion of the brow is raised and contoured. It is ideal for people who have outer hooding of upper eyelids and brows.
- Browpexy: This technique combines a brow and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), providing a broader spectrum of benefits to the patient. Standard eyelid lift incisions are made along the eyelid crease, excessive skin is removed and then special sutures are placed into the deep brow tissue. These sutures serve as anchors for the brow tissue at a higher location. This approach brightens the eyes and provides some benefit to the brow position.
- Direct Brow Lift: In this approach, the brows are lifted but not the forehead. Nonetheless, this technique can deliver a marked degree of eyebrow lifting. The incisions made in this procedure are hidden in the eyebrow hairline. This procedure is more commonly performed in males.
